Joseph S. Gardner, prominent Mansfield resident who is well known throughout Richland County, died last Saturday at his home, death resulting from a complication of diseases after a long illness.

Mr. Gardner was born in North Liberty, Knox County, April 5, 1865, and spent his entire life in Mansfield and the immediate vicinity.  Funeral services were held at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Mansfield, Tuesday morning.
